Multiple Maple Leafs Players are Now Available for Trade
Following the recent signings of many high profile players such as Max Domi, Tyler Bertuzzi, and Ryan Reaves, the Leafs have exceeded their cap by a whopping $8 million.
Even with Jake Muzzin moved to Long-Term Injured Reserve, the team will still be just over 3$ million over.
Trade Prospects for Three Maple Leafs Players
Rumors have been swirling that Matt Murray's stint in Toronto might be nearing its conclusion. His high salary coupled with inconsistent performances seem to be reasons enough for Treliving to consider a trade.
In addition to Murray, David Pagnotta from The Fourth Period has mentioned two other Leafs players who could soon be leaving for other teams.
"T.J. Brodie's name is out there as well, he's got a 5 million dollar cap hit in the final year of his deal, he has some no-trade protection, he's out there as well. Nick Robertson is also a name that's floating around that could potentially be moved and maybe as a sweetener for somebody taking on Murray."

Treliving Faces Tough Negotiations
Potential trade partners are likely to demand valuable players as compensation for taking on such sizeable contracts. It is also important to consider the fact that T.J. Brodie is approaching the last season of his 4-year contract with the Leafs, which he signed in 2020.
