Major statement regarding a possible upcoming trade for Jake Allen

As we slowly approach the halfway point of the season, the overall picture is becoming clearer. Most of the teams in the league know a little more about their destiny in the second half of the regular season.

But as reported by Michaël Petit of Danslescoulisses.com, former Habs coach and now TVA Sports analyst Michel Therrien did not wait for the team's 41st game to give his impressions.

He took the opportunity to give an update on certain issues within the organization, including that of goalie Jake Allen. In fact, a statement made by the coach was particularly interesting regarding number 34.

According to him, the CH goalie could be an excellent option for some teams between now and the trade deadline. He even added the detail that Kent Hughes could even receive a first round pick in return for Allen's services.

I highly doubt it, especially for an auxiliary goalie, but here are his words:

"Jake Allen represents a nice option for many teams. The Canadiens are in a position to ask for the big money. It would definitely be a first round pick in return for the veteran goalie's services. I've heard that Allen was offered to other clubs in the most recent draft."

However, it should be noted that Allen signed a contract extension before the start of the season and the lack of options to replace him internally unfortunately forces Hughes to have to retain his services.

It is a safe bet that barring injury, the Habs will finish the season with Allen and Samuel Montembeault in front of the net.
