Jim Montgomery Demotes Brad Marchand After Tough Series Of Games

After starting the season off 13-1-2, the Bruins still find themselves at the top of the Metro division, but their lead has shrunk substantially due to their recent skid. The team has won just five of their last ten games. Many teams around the league would be happy to win half their games, but the Bruins expect more than that from their players.

Head coach Jim Montgomery believes that his team has not been tough enough to play against recently. He called his players out during his press conference this morning.

Some of the Bruins players discussed the recent stretch of poor play as well. Defenseman Charlie McAvoy believes the team will come out of it stronger than ever.

This morning at practice, the Bruins lines were on shuffle mode. Perhaps the most notable change was who Brad Marchand was lined up with. The new captain of the team was playing along side Matthew Poitras and Danton Heinen. While it was officially listed as the team's top line, such a line combination would likely be the team's 2nd or 3rd line in an actual game.

The team listed Jake DeBrusk, Pavel Zacha, and David Pastrnak as the 2nd line. That line would likely get the most ice time in a real game scenario. It remains unclear as to whether or not Montgomery will actually try these lines in a game, but it is clear that he is trying to shake things up.
