The hockey world has been buzzing with rumors and discussions lately concerning the relocalisation of the Arizona Coyotes.

Some cities like Houston, Salt Lake City, and Kansas City are being considered, but one city that's being overlooked is Atlanta.

According to the renowned insider Elliotte Friedman, the NHL is seriously considering Atlanta as the Coyotes' new home. They're planning to build a new arena in Alpharetta, a small city near Atlanta.

No more Thrashers?

This isn't about bringing back the Atlanta Thrashers, but rather moving the Coyotes to Atlanta and bringing NHL hockey back to Georgia.

Atlanta has had a roller coaster relationship with the NHL. They've had two NHL teams before, but both times it didn't work out. The Atlanta Flames moved to Calgary, and the Thrashers moved to Winnipeg and became the Jets. Interestingly, the NHL thought that Arizona deserved a team more than Atlanta, even though Atlanta had already lost two franchises.

Many hockey experts think that the NHL should focus on Atlanta itself instead of a suburb like Alpharetta for their third attempt. They believe that building a new stadium in downtown Atlanta and targeting the city's vibrant population with their marketing strategies could help establish a strong hockey culture in the region. This has been a goal for the NHL for a while, but they've had difficulties making it happen.
