Just before the first intermission a puck battle ensued by the Kraken bench in which Seattle forward Eeli Tolvanen laid a big hit on Senators forward Nick Cousins.
As Cousins fell to the ice, his skates came flying up into the air and made contact with Jaden Schwartz's face.
Schwartz immediately went down to the ice and was attended to quickly by the training staff.
According to reports from those in the arena, Schwartz was cut on his face but was alert and able to leave the ice under his own power.
