Edmonton Oilers Head Coach Kris Knoblauch Gives A Crucial Update Regarding Connor McDavid's Return From Injury

The Edmonton Oilers have all but clinched a spot in the playoffs this year with 89 points through 73 games.

However, their position going into the playoffs is yet to be decided as they currently are tied with the LA Kings for second in the Pacific Division.

The team's health will be critical in the final stretch as they make a push for that second place spot.

Last week, Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch gave us an update on the status of Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid as both superstars were out of action.

Since then, Draisaitl has returned to the lineup, but McDavid remains sidelined.

This afternoon, Knoblauch spoke to the media giving another update on McDavid status.

Knoblauch spoke to the media this afternoon confirming that McDavid will return to the lineup before the end of the regular season, but it won't be in the next couple of games.

He added that McDavid could join the team sometime over the course of their upcoming four-game road trip that ends on April 7th in Anaheim.

Obviously, McDavid's health is one of the team's top priorities heading into the playoffs so it would make sense that they are extra cautious with him.

The superstar center has 26 goals and 90 points in 63 games this season which isn't quite the scoring pace we have come to expect from him, but he would still be the leading scorer on most teams in the league despite already missing ten games.

Hopefully McDavid will be 100% healthy by the time the playoffs come around so he can help lead them back to another Stanley Cup finals where they will hope for a better result this time around.
