A new report from NHL insider David Pagnotta has connected the Winnipeg Jets to New York Islanders veteran forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau. The Winnipeg Jets forward group has undergone a monumental shift this summer headlined by Nikolaj Ehlers signing with the Red Wings in free agency. The Jets also lost key forwards Mason Appleton, Rasmus Kupari, and Brandon Tanev who all played significant minutes for the team at different points of the season. <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/jfreshhockey/status/1940491069491499388'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/nhl/status/1940123884281385299'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> The Jets were able to replace some of that production by bringing in Jonathan Toews and Gustav Nyquist but the lineup still has several big holes. <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/nhljets/status/1940531075484438686'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/nhl/status/1940080127901122671'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Jets could look to strike a deal with the New York Islanders to fill one of those needs. <h3>Winnipeg Jets Linked To Islanders Veteran Forward On The Trade Market</h3> According to Pagnotta's latest trade target list the Winnipeg Jets are one of three teams exploring a trade for Jean-Gabriel Pageau. Before the Islanders overhauled their front office Pageau was expected to be traded and now Pagnotta believes that option is back on the table once again. The previous regime on Long Island explored the trade market on Pageau, and new GM Mathieu Darche may do the same as Pageau is going into the last year on his contract. He does, however, own a 16-team no-trade list. TEAMS REPORTEDLY LINKED: Winnipeg, Carolina, Boston, Minnesota Over the last four seasons Pageau has been consistently one of the best third line forwards in the NHL and would be a huge upgrade for the Jets. <div align='center' class='pl20 pr20'><blockquote class='twitter-tweet' data-lang='en'><a href='https://twitter.com/benchrates/status/1935403299890672074'><div style='border:1px solid #CCCCCC;border-radius:10px;padding:20px;width:300px;'>Loading from Twitter ...</div></a></blockquote></div> Of course, every trade comes with a price tag and if Kevin Cheveldayoff can work his magic and land Pageau without giving up several assets Pageau could be a massive get for the Jets. As more reports surface regarding Pageau's future with the Islanders and beyond we will continue to pass along all of the latest news.
