After defenseman Dylan Samberg was hurt due to an awkward collision against the Calgary Flames on Saturday, Winnipeg Jets head coach Scott Arniel has provided the latest update on his condition.

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Dylan Samberg was hurt during his team's 4-2 win over the Calgary Flames on Saturday in what was their 4th preseason game, and he did not return for the rest of the night.
He was hit awkwardly by Flames forward Ryan Lomberg close to the Flames bench.
After the game, head coach Scott Arniel spoke to the media and gave an initial update on Samberg's condition.

Dylan Samberg Suffers Potential Major Injury After Breakout Season

Per the latest from Jets head coach Scott Arniel, the incident was a "freak accident" and he continues to be evaluated.
Scott Arniel says that Dylan Samberg will receive more evaluation tomorrow. He called the injury a "freak accident."

Does sound like there's some concern about Samberg, though.

"We'll see how this goes with Sammy. That's part of what we've talked about with our depth."
The Jets won 4-2, but it clearly came at a cost with Samberg's injury.
Samberg was taken with the 43rd overall selection in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft by the Jets, and later began that year playing for the Waterloo Black Hawks of the USHL.
He then played 3 years for the University of Minnesota-Duluth before starting his NHL career with the AHL affiliate Manitoba Moose in 2020-21.
Samberg's career with the Jets started in 2021-22, playing in 15 games.
He's played in 216 career NHL games, all in a Jets sweater, and has 51 points (9G, 42A).
If he's hurt for an extended period of time, it would force the Jets to consider other options considering he's been recently used as their 2nd pairing defenseman.
Last year, Samberg was forced to miss several games after breaking his foot blocking a shot in November.
