An NHL analyst has pinpointed the exact issue that has been causing Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck problems in the last two games, and how to fix it.

Shortly after allowing his fifth goal on Sunday, Connor Hellebuyck skated down to the Jets' bench.
His teammates grimaced out encouragement with stick pats as he ceded the crease to Eric Comrie and took a seat, an all-too-common sight for Winnipeg in recent playoff series.
Though a Vezina favorite and Hart Trophy candidate, Hellebuyck has now been pulled in three of his last nine playoff games. That's a far cry from his regular-season consistency, where he was pulled just once in 122 games.
One constant problem has been Hellebuyck's difficulty with screened shots. Last year during the playoffs, he recorded a terrible .737 save percentage on those attempts.

Hellebuyck is getting screened too much

This season, the Blues have tallied three goals on 16 screened shots (.813 save percentage), well short of his .927 mark in the regular season.
They've also tacked on three goals off deflections, discounting fluky bounces such as Justin Faulk's goal that deflected off Neal Pionk. The Jets simply are not letting Hellebuyck see the puck clearly.
NHL analyst Adam Vingan believes players need to do a better job at clearing the front of the net to allow a clear sightline for Hellebuyck.
Rebounds are an issue, too. The Blues have set rebounds off of more than 92% of screened shots taken on Hellebuyck so far. While none yet have translated into a goal, chances are piling up.

Maybe most telling is the manner in which the Blues are targeting him: 60% of their goals have beaten Hellebuyck on the high glove.
His .571 save percentage on shots to the upper right corner represents a steep fall from the .896 he tallied in the regular season. As the series continues, how Hellebuyck recovers and how the Jets respond may determine their fate.
