Mark Scheifele Ties a Winnipeg Jets Franchise Record With Multi-Goal Performance Against the Flyers

The Winnipeg Jets came into tonight's game against the Flyers without several big name players who are out due to injury.

In the absence of these key veterans, including captain Adam Lowry, the Jets have heavily relied on Mark Scheifele to step up both on and off the ice and tonight that continued.

Early in the second period with the Jets up 1-0, Scheifele got on the board with his fourth goal in four games to begin the season.

Later in the game, Scheifele came up clutch once again with another big goal which this time led him to tie an incredible franchise record.

With his second goal of the game, Scheifele tied former captain Blake Wheeler for the most points in franchise history.

With the goal, Scheifele now sits at 812 career points in 883 games with the Jets which is 14 games less than it took Blake Wheeler to set the record in the first place.

Scheifele has been a key pillar of the Winnipeg Jets franchise for much of their existence since coming to the city back in 2011.

Unfortunately, Scheifele was not able to cap off the hat-trick to give himself the outright number one spot for points in Jets franchise history.

On a broader scale, this performance by Scheifele got the Jets another win which puts them in an early season tie for second place in the Western Conference.

Scheifele's next opportunity to surpass Wheeler's points record will come on Saturday night against the Nashville Predators.
