Tonight, Winnipeg Jets forward Jonathan Toews spoke to the media and addressed being demoted to the bottom-six by head coach Scott Arniel.

This summer, the Winnipeg Jets signed Jonathan Toews who was expected to be a key middle-six forward for the team while making an NHL comeback.
However, through the first quarter of the NHL season, Toews has struggled to produce both offensively and defensively leaving him as a liability on some nights in the Jets lineup.
In 28 games to this point, Toews has just 9 points and is an astonishing minus 13 while playing significant minutes for Scott Arniel.
Now, Toews has been slotted down on the fourth line wing going forward as Arniel put the lines in a blender in recent days.
After practice this morning, Toews spoke to the media about his demotion and handling adversity.

During an interview, Toews spoke about having to put his ego aside after being moved not only to the fourth line but to the wing for the first time in his NHL career.
I think there's a little part of it where it's a little bit of a check to your ego. And I think I've always prided myself on the way I play at both ends of the rink and playing a two-way game as a centreman, so the second you kind of see your name on the wing, it's a bit of an adjustment.

Even with the disappointment head coach Scott Arniel is proud of Toews resiliency and willingness to do whatever is asked of him to win.
That's the part about Jonathan, he's been fantastic about everything. Our very first conversation, way, way back in the summer, was just, 'I want to fit in and I just want to do whatever I can to help the team win. - Scott Arniel

With the Jets two points out of a playoff spot they need to find a combination that will get the group firing on all cylinders and moving Toews to the bottom-six could be the move that has been missing this season.
