Vancouver placed Woo on waivers Monday after he started the 2025-26 season on the injured, non-roster list. The 24-year-old has not played yet this season while rehabbing his hand injury from Abbotsford's Calder Cup run last spring.
What Jett Woo did for Abbotsford during their Championship run
Woo was a central piece for that championship squad, helping Abbotsford win the franchise's first Calder Cup. He tallied six playoff points and had a strong regular season with 18 points and a career-best plus-14 rating.
Across well over 260 AHL regular-season games, he has developed into a reliable two-way defenseman who handles tough minutes and contributes at both ends of the ice.
A second-round draft pick by Vancouver back in 2018, Woo has remained in the organization's system his entire pro career.
What Jett Woo's potential was when the Canucks drafted him
While he was once a highly touted prospect coming out of the WHL, he has not cemented a regular NHL role to date, but has been a stalwart in the minors.
Before going pro, the Winnipeg native represented Canada during several international events, including the 2017 IIHF Under-18 World Championships and the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, in which he won gold.
We hope this AHL assignment gets Woo back into great form, and hopefully, he will get his NHL shot in the not-too-distant future.
