Jonathan Toews backs Mark Scheifele for Canadian Olympic spot after standout season with the Jets

Winnipeg Jets forward Jonathan Toews believes that teammate Mark Scheifele should be included on the Team Canada roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics, coming in February from Milan.
The 2026 Winter Olympics will mark the first time that NHL players have participated since 2014 in Sochi, Russia.
Team Canada will once again be going for a gold medal, and trying to continue the momentum from their win in the 4 Nations Faceoff last February, highlighted by the dramatic OT win over Team USA in the title game at Boston's TD Garden.
The official roster for Canada is set to be announced on New Year's Eve, and if Winnipeg Jets forward and former Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews has a vote, he would include his current teammate Mark Scheifele on the roster.

Toews was part of the Canadian rosters in 2010 and 2014 that won the gold medal. He's back in the NHL for the first time since 2023, playing with the Jets after having played his entire career in a Blackhawks sweater.
Mark Scheifele Would Love To Be On Team Canada's Roster
Scheifele said that even though it's something that he thinks about, he won't let it stress him out and that he wasn't able to control not being included on Canada's roster for the 4 Nations Faceoff.
