Winnipeg Jets celebrate a goal over the Edmonton Oilers

There is not a team from Canada at the top every year, but this year the Jets are number one for the Western Conference and Hal Gill is rooting for them.

They have played 70 games and won 48, but the Jets are a true force this season even if they weren't number-one favorites at the start.
The Jets are virtually guaranteed great postseason achievement, but as we have previously discovered, winning all season will not necessarily mean a lengthy postseason existence.
But for as well as the Jets have played up until now, the betting public has not caught up with them. With three weeks remaining, however, that will shortly become a reality.

The Jets added the perfect amount of grit and depth at the trade deadline

Their trade deadline acquisitions of forward Brandon Tanev and defenseman Luke Schenn brought grit and depth to an already talented roster. With that, they can now make a Stanley Cup run and be considered one of the favorites.
Former NHL defenceman Hal Gill was speaking on TSN's 'OverDrive', and was as honest and as direct as they come regarding the Jets' destiny.
He came out and said flatly that the Jets possess the tools to win it all, as much as for their depth, their system, and playing Stanley Cup hockey the proper way. He is a true believer in them.
"I'm a big Winnipeg Jets fan right now."

- Hal Gill
Although you can never count on anything with the NHL playoffs, with conference leads, the Jets are a great favorite.
They have 12 games remaining and are dictating their destiny and are on a path towards being the best team out West, if not possibly in all of the league.
They would become the first Canadian franchise to win the Stanley Cup if they continue, as it has not been won since over 30 years ago by the Montreal Canadiens back in 1993.
