Former NHL goalie turned analyst, Jose Theodore, believes that Connor Hellebuyck should be the one winning the Hart Trophy at the end of this season.

If former NHL goalie Jose Theodore possessed a vote for the 2024-25 Hart Trophy, he'd be voting for Winnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck without hesitation.
"He's in the prime of his career, dominating this season as he has the past few years," said Theodore, who won the Hart with the Montreal Canadiens in 2001-02 as the player "adjudged to be the most valuable to his team" during the regular season.

"I hope that Hellebuyck wins the Hart. Nobody can deny that he's a future Hall of Famer. He's gone deep in the Stanley Cup Playoffs (Western Conference Final in 2018), and for sure he's going to win his third Vezina Trophy this year -- that's a no-brainer."
The Hart Trophy, awarded 100 times since 1924 by the Professional Hockey Writers Association, is for the NHL's most valuable player.
It is complemented by the Ted Lindsay Award, an MVP Trophy based on NHL player voting, that has existed since 1971. As esteemed as they are, goalies rarely win either.

Only eight goalies in NHL history have ever won the Hart Trophy

Only eight goalies have won the Hart, and just four have won the Lindsay in over five decades, but Hellebuyck has a good chance to capture either one.
Now settled in Florida in retirement with his family and tending to a busy schedule of business interests, radio spots, and flying his own aircraft, Theodore has no doubt that Hellebuyck is poised to make history as the first goaltender in 10 years to claim the Hart.
Through April 8, Hellebuyck had played in 60 games with a superb 44-12-3 record, seven shutouts, a 2.02 goals-against average, and a .924 save percentage. He led goalies with 25 or more games in wins, GAA, and save percentage.
A two-time Vezina Trophy winner already (2020, 2024), Hellebuyck is a virtual lock to claim his third, awarded to the league's top goaltender as voted by GMs.
In Theodore's estimation, an MVP goalie has to bear the load, playing around 60 of the 82 regular-season games. Hellebuyck checks all the boxes and needs to be this year's Hart Trophy winner.
