Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey got hit from behind on the ice in the corner late in the third period last night and was not seen at team practice today.

Twenty-two seconds from a post-holiday win, the Winnipeg Jets watched Saturday's game slip away.
Leading 3-2 late in the third, the Jets gave Minnesota a power play at 19:30 when Dylan DeMelo was called for a cross-check. Head coach Scott Arniel was furious, yelling at officials as the Wild took a timeout.

What made Scott Arniel so angry

Arniel later explained his frustration came from an earlier hit on Jets defenseman Josh Morrissey, who was taken down from behind in the corner by Wild forward Joel Eriksson Ek. DeMelo's penalty was retaliation for that play.
"That was a terrible non-call on Josh Morrissey. Absolute terrible non-call," Arniel said. "It should have been called. Head-first into the boards. And then a ticky-tack little call after that."

"Any other top players in the league, elite players, get hit from behind into the boards, I'm pretty sure that's a penalty," he said.

Why today's news surrounding Josh Morrissey wasn't great

Morrissey wasn't seen anywhere at practice today, and his possible game absence could create quite a hole in the Jets' defence.
The team struggled to regain control in last night's game, shaken by the late-game chaos.
Minnesota made the most of the power play, with Mats Zuccarello tying the game at 3 and sending it to overtime. Matt Boldy scored the game-winner in the extra period, turning what felt like a sure victory into a heartbreaking loss for the Jets.
Even after the defeat, Arniel stayed focused on Morrissey's hit, pointing out how it changed the game's momentum and led to the controversial penalty.
Now, the Jets face questions about injuries, discipline, and whether they can bounce back in their next matchup.
