Vancouver Canucks trade superstar defenseman Quinn Hughes to the Minnesota Wild

For weeks, there have been rumors regarding Quinn Hughes future with the Vancouver Canucks after trade speculation surfaced due to comments made by Jim Rutherford.

Now, the Canucks have decided to trade Hughes sending him to the Minnesota Wild for a combination of draft picks and prospects.

According to Elliotte Friedman, the Canucks will be receiving defenseman Zeev Buium, forwards Marco Rossi and Liam Ohgren, and a first round pick while the Wild will get Quinn Hughes.

At the moment it remains unclear whether or not Hughes will be extending in Minnesota or if he will keep his options open for a potential free agency campaign.

Buium is considered the top defenseman from his draft class by many and could one day be an elite offensive puck moving defenseman.

Rossi heading into the 2025-26 season was expected to be a breakout candidate and a potential future star in the league before hitting a setback in Minnesota but could be the answer that the Canucks have been looking for to pair with Pettersson.

Finally, Liam Ohgren is a dependable two way center with power forward elements that could be a great option on the wing in the top or middle six in the coming years.
