The Oilers have just acquired Tristan Jarry from the Penguins, and one hidden stat of his should have all Western Conference teams worried going forward.

The Edmonton Oilers have brought on seasoned goalie Tristan Jarry from the Pittsburgh Penguins, potentially solving the lone issue preventing them from competing at an elite level within the Western Conference.
Jarry will excel with a capable unit in front of him, as evidenced by an average save percentage and goals-against average of .913 and 2.63 with 8.782 GSAA during the seasons he was on a playoff team. All teams within the Western Conference should now be on edge.

The other goalie involved in today's trade

Edmonton traded Stuart Skinner to Pittsburgh as part of the swap. Headlined by Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, the Oilers have been on a quest for their first Stanley Cup championship since 1990.
However, they have suffered from inconsistent goaltending. Prior to making this trade, Edmonton sat near the bottom of the league in save percentage (.873) with goalies Skinner and Calvin Pickard.
Pittsburgh, led by Sidney Crosby and an emerging role-playing cast, had been a surprise thus far in the season and was also still in a playoff position with a save percentage of .905.
Skinner has playoff experience with a save percentage of .893 and 50 postseason appearances, compared to 2-6 and an .891 save percentage with eight postseason appearances for Jarry.

Why Tristan Jarry will upgrade the Oilers' goaltending

Edmonton has given up the 10th fewest high-danger chances, and Jarry, who was eighth in high-danger save percentage before the trade, would upgrade the goaltending.
Jarry's also sixth with a save percentage at even strength from the rush (.919), compared with Skinner's .866.
Both clubs have excellent support on offense, with Edmonton averaging 3.32 goals per contest and being the second best on the man advantage, while Pittsburgh is at 3.10 goals per contest and is third on the man advantage.
The addition of Jarry gives Edmonton a legitimate solution to address its goalie problem and allows it to make a deep playoff run.
