It looks like the Vancouver Canucks are finally addressing what has been a source of frustration and embarrassment with a long overdue project of their first official practice rink.

The Vancouver Canucks are the only team in the National Hockey League who do not have their own dedicated practice rink but after years of embarrassment and requests from players who have come and gone from the organization, they finally appear to be doing something about it.
Per new reports, it looks like the Canucks are set to build their first official practice rink that will include all of the usual accommodations that modern NHL players expect.
Sounds like the Canucks and City of Vancouver are close to an agreement to build a practice facility at Britannia Rink. It will include a state of the art gym, off ice training facility, lounge and locker room. The build will also include office space for the city. - Irfaan Gaffar
This is a long overdue moment for the Canucks and offers just a bit of solace for what has been another miserable year that will finish without a playoff spot.

The Canucks Appear Ready To Finally Build A Practice Rink

Additional information on the upcoming project from Gaffar shows that Canucks ownership and management had been scouting locations for a new practice rink dating back to last summer.
In their search for a practice facility, the Canucks checked out spots all over the lower mainland, but at the end of the day, Britannia was always the location that made the most sense from a logistical standpoint. In early June, X.com user Ryan Bains posted a photo of President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford, GM Patrik Allvin, President of Business Operations Michael Doyle, along with Dax Aquilini - son of team co-owner Roberto Aquilini - paying a visit to Rosemary Brown Recreation Centre in South Burnaby. As we reported back in June, that group also visited Britannia on the same day. - Irfaan Gaffar

Right now, the Canucks utilize the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre at UBC when Rogers Arena is booked for a different event.
