Canucks' plans for new practice facility in Burnaby take unexpected turn, NHL insider says

NHL insider Rick Dhaliwal has revealed that the Canucks plans for a practice facility in Burnaby have fallen apart, and they are forced to restart from scratch.
The Vancouver Canucks are still lacking a practice facility, and attempts to acquire one are again faced with a roadblock.
The Canucks remain the only NHL franchise lacking a home ice rink for practice, a condition that has been remedied by even newer teams, like the Utah Mammoth.
What Jim Rutherford said earlier in the season regarding a practice facility
Things were looking up earlier this year. Canucks president Jim Rutherford reported that there had been movement towards implementing a practice facility, and it seemed as if Burnaby was the leading candidate.
Vancouver's management visited the Rosemary Brown Recreation Centre during the spring.
Other possible sites have also been examined by the group, including areas of East Vancouver such as Britannia and PNE. The plan of the Canucks has been to have a location near Rogers Arena, but no plans have been set in stone.
Plans that were conceived in 2018, a location across from Rogers Arena at the Plaza of Nations, were cancelled in 2021.

However, according to current NHL insider Rick Dhaliwal, things have gone south for the Burnaby project, and the Canucks are starting from scratch.

The hunt for a permanent practice facility begins once again, leaving the club to sift through locations until a solution is reached.
What began as an easy process for the Canucks to move forward into the modern era of the franchise is now no more.
Currently, the Canucks continue to practice without an official home ice venue and cannot move forward in their quest to fix this issue until a new site has been determined.
