A new report from Stephan Roget of Canucks Army has linked the Vancouver Canucks to former Washington Capitals first round pick Hendrix Lapierre. The Vancouver Canucks recently signed former first-round pick Vitali Kravtsov and now reports indicated they are set up to potentially acquire another once the season gets underway. The NHL season is just around the corner and with free agency essentially dried up attention has turned to young talents that could be found on the waiver wire. Each season every NHL team is forced to part with talented young players who just miss out on making the NHL club and are then subject to waivers. This year Hendrix Lapierre of the Washington Capitals could be a prime addition for one lucky club and the Canucks could look to be that club according to Stephan Roget.
Vancouver Canucks Linked To Former First-Round Pick From The Washington Capitals
In a new article for Canucks Army, NHL analyst Stephan Roget put together a list of potential waiver wire targets for the Canucks. At the top of that list, Washington Capitals 2020 first-round pick Hendrix Lapierre. Though he's of no relation to Maxim and does not play anywhere near the same style, Hendrix Lapierre is a player with an apparent NHL future. Drafted at 22nd overall in 2020, he's struggled to consistently break into a deep Washington forward corps that has been more concerned with helping Alex Ovechkin chase the goal record than developing their internal prospects. Still, Lapierre has come to be a dominant playmaker at the AHL level, and his run of production in limited NHL minutes isn't half-bad, either. If the predicted happens and Lapierre is a late cut in Washington, he'll be one of the best options to hit the waiver wire this year. Lapierre as Roget mentions is a player who to this point has been too good for the AHL but not broken out in the NHL. Last season, Lapierre was a point per game in 22 AHL contests while also suiting up in 27 NHL games.

Loading from Twitter ...

Loading from Twitter ...

With the NHL preseason coming soon Lapierre is a name to watch out for during the preseason and into the beginning to the regular season as well.
