Vancouver Canucks Sign Former First-Round NHL Pick Returning at 25 After Two Years Overseas
This evening the Vancouver Canucks have made a major free agent acquisition today re-signing Vitali Kravtsov after two seasons overseas.
Over the last few weeks fans and media have called out the Vancouver Canucks for their lack of depth up front.
The lack of depth in many people's eyes has put too much pressure on Elias Pettersson heading into next year.
Today, GM Patrik Allvin responded to those fans by helping out Pettersson and the forward group and bringing back young star Vitali Kravtsov.
Vitali Kravtsov Returns To The Vancouver Canucks After Two Seasons Overse
According to multiple reports, the Vancouver Canucks are in agreement with Russian forward Vitali Kravtsov on a one-year deal.
Kravtsov was drafted 9th overall in the 2018 NHL Draft by the New York Rangers and considered a dynamic offensive winger.
This will be Kravtsov's third NHL stint after heading back to Russia multiple times to get more ice time.
Last season, Kravtsov was a standout in the KHL playing for Traktor Chelyabinsk tallying 58 points in 66 games.
The lack of consistency especially in North America is a worrying trend with Kravtsov but with more ice-time he has potential for a breakout season in Vancouver.
The Canucks are hoping that Kravtsov has finally figured things out and found his offensive form in a way that will translate to the NHL.
Either way, this is a low risk but high reward move from Allvin and the front office betting on the upside Kravtsov has shown at multiple times throughout his career.
