NHL insider Tom Gazzola revealed on a podcast that the Edmonton Oilers' new third jersey will feature traditional colors but will not feature the famous oil drop. The Edmonton Oilers should be unveiling a new third jersey for the 2025-26 season, and while the team has been totally quiet on that front lately, some information has been leaked.

Loading from Twitter ...

Edmonton insider Tom Gazzola has been the sole media figure to leak anything, talking on an episode of 'The Oil Stream.' The Oilers have not had a third jersey for the last two seasons, as they no longer used their navy/orange Adidas design after the switch to Fanatics as the NHL's jersey supplier. They've stuck to their classic 1980s-style home and away set ever since, aside from a Heritage Classic jersey that was worn very briefly last season.
There Will Be No Oil Drip Logo on the Third Jerseys, Per Tom Gazzola
As for this new third jersey, there have been no leaked photos, and the club hasn't confirmed it officially. But Gazzola suggested it will use the classic Oilers colours: orange, blue, and white, but minus the oil drop logo. I've seen it, I've seen the whole uniform, Gazzola said. This is the traditional colours, but a whole new look.

Loading from Twitter ...

A white base with an 'Oilers' wordmark seems to be the centerpiece instead. This is disappointing to fans who had hoped the blue and copper 1990s look would be back. Training camp is only weeks away, so a reveal is probably coming soon, especially if the team wishes the jersey to be available in stores for opening night on Oct. 8. Tom Gazzola also said Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have already seen the design and given it their seal of approval. The Oilers' stars have had a say in jersey issues previously, so their approval would bode well for fan acceptance. It got the blessing from the big boys, Gazzola said. They care about that stuff, that's why the reverse retro with the orange pants didn't go over too well, they didn't like the orange pants. Fans will have to wait patiently for the official unveiling in the meantime.
