The Vancouver Canucks captain, Quinn Hughes, broke his silence on the injuries to three key forwards, including Elias Pettersson. Yesterday, the Vancouver Canucks lost a crucial game to the New York Rangers, but perhaps the toughest part of the night was watching Elias Pettersson and Nils Hoglander walk down the tunnel with injuries. Despite both players' struggles this season, they remain important players for the Cancucks in their push for the wild card spot in the Western Conference. With Filip Chytil, who joined the team in the J.T. Miller trade to the New York Rangers, also injured, the team is left in a tough spot. Quinn Hughes, the team captain, opened up on the current injury situation, as well as how the team performed against the Rangers, in a press conference following the 5-3 loss: I thought we competed hard, especially with two forwards going down, having to go 10-10 forwards in the third. I mean, we're playing gutsy right now, and we've got a lot of guys out. I thought we kind of shot ourselves in the foot at the end, which is too bad because we probably played one of our better games all year. And like I said, we got, you know, Petey and Chytil out, our one and two, and then Hogs goes down. We've got guys stepping up, guys playing with heart. So, can't really complain too much about any of that. But it's hockey - sometimes you're going to lose some that you probably feel like you should win. But we've been on the other side of that this year as well.

Loading from Twitter ...

Head coach Rick Tocchet also provided comments on the situation: When you lose your top centreman (Pettersson) and Hoggy, and then, you know, a couple of guys are banged up, I thought we hung in there pretty good. I'm proud of the team.

Loading from Twitter ...

It remains to be seen how long Pettersson and Hoglander will be out with their respective injuries. As updates are provided on their condition we will pass them along to you.
