Tonight, the Vancouver Canucks ownership group are once again under fire for being cheap after new GM Ryan Johnson's reported salary has been revealed.
The Vancouver Canucks are known to have one of the most toxic cultures in the NHL over the last few seasons impacting the product on the ice.
This culture begins with ownership in the eyes of many but leaked down to the rest of the team during the tenure of Jim Rutherford and Patrik Allvin in the front office.
With Rutherford and Allvin fired and replaced by Ryan Johnson, Henrik Sedin, and Daniel Sedin, fans were hoping that days of toxic culture and frustration were behind them.
However, a new report has once again sparked controversy as the Canucks are once again cutting corners having reportedly severely under paying new GM Ryan Johnson.

According to a new report from NHL journalist Andy Strickland, the Canucks are paying Johnson less than $850,000 to be the GM of the Canucks.
I heard Ryan Johnson got less than $850,000 to become GM. - Andy Strickland
If this report is accurate it means that the Canucks continue to try and find shortcuts to win and likely over looked better and more experienced candidates to be able to save a couple bucks.
With the Canucks lack of success in recent years and the massive rebuild that is likely to take place now is not the time to go cheap on a General Manager.
If the Canucks struggle again next season and Johnson's first season gets off to a rough start then the Aquilini family will once again have to answer for their controversial decision making.
