Former controversial player of the Canucks, Todd Bertuzzi, has landed a new job, where he will be a coach for a team in the province of Ontario next season. One of the Vancouver Canucks all-time stalwarts finds himself making headlines behind the bench. Todd Bertuzzi, an eight-year veteran of the Canucks, has been hired as the Cambridge RedHawks' new head coach, a Junior B team in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL). The RedHawks announced the news on social media Monday. ATTENTION REDHAWKS FANS! SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE NEST Please join us in giving a warm RedHawks welcome to our new Head Coach for the 2025-2026 season... The Sudbury native is deeply entrenched in the community, as he played his OHL hockey just 30 minutes down the road in Guelph with the Storm.
Bertuzzi will always be infamously known for the Steve Moore incident
Bertuzzi also enjoyed a solid NHL career, posting 449 points (188 goals, 261 assists) in 518 games for Vancouver. Though his play was good, his stint in the league is also marked by the 2004 Steve Moore incident, which resulted in a lengthy suspension. This new chapter is a fresh start for Bertuzzi in the hockey world. It'll be interesting to note how he develops behind the bench, perhaps even opening the door to a future coaching job in the OHL, and who knows, maybe the NHL one day if he dreams big.
