It's no secret that these are likely Brock Boeser's last few games with the Canucks, and Elliotte Friedman revealed the star player is absolutely heartbroken now.

Hockey insider Elliotte Friedman had some skepticism when it came to Brock Boeser's future as a member of the Vancouver Canucks, wondering if the forward would ever return once his contract expires.
Boeser, the longest-serving member of the team, sounded uncertain himself this week when asked about sticking around in Vancouver beyond this season.
On Friday's edition of his '32 Thoughts' podcast on Sportsnet, Friedman had something to say about Boeser's comments as the Canucks were mathematically out of the playoff hunt.
"I think he's heartbroken," Friedman said. "Brock Boeser was drafted by Vancouver, and he became a man in Vancouver. And I think that the longer you go with one organization, like you learn it's just business, and you see things that happen that are just business to other people. But when it's you, and it goes this long, you think, "You know what? I could be a one-organization guy."

In comments made to the media Tuesday, following the Canucks' shocking 6-5 overtime win over the Dallas Stars, Boeser admitted he has no idea what's coming next.
His contract expires at the end of the year, and he sounded unclear about its continuance with the team.
"Honestly, it's unlikely at this point," Boeser said via Sportsnet.

Friedman states that maybe cooler heads can prevail this summer

Friedman had speculated on a variety of outcomes for the future of Boeser and the Canucks, speculating on a possible breakup depending on how things go in the offseason.
"This guy (Boeser), for the most part, thought he was going to be a Canucks forever," Friedman said."And now that it's happening, and it's not really his choice, you know what? I think it's the heartbreak that you feel. And I don't know. Sometimes, I think that cooler heads can prevail."

That win over Dallas was historic. Vancouver became the first team in NHL history to rally from three goals down a minute into the third period of regulation.
With 19:00 on the clock and the Canucks falling behind 5-2 in the third period, Aatu Raty and Pius Suter scored a combined three goals to force it to overtime. Kiefer Sherwood then finalized the victory by scoring the OT winner at 1:16.
The Canucks have three games remaining in the season, starting Saturday night against the Minnesota Wild.
