Today, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has walked back and clarified earlier reports of the Vancouver Canucks pursuit of Pavel Zacha.

Earlier this week, Elliotte Friedman reported that the Canucks had repeatedly explored trading for Pavel Zacha and he was at the top of their target list.
This report of course got Canucks fans excited as they have been clamoring for GM Patrik Allvin to make moves to help this team contend.
The Canucks recently acquired Lukas Reichel but fans were hoping for a bigger name like Zacha to fill in for the injured Filip Chytil.
Unfortunately, a new report from Friedman has suggested that Zacha will not be leaving the Bruins unless something changes.

Elliotte Friedman Shuts Down Reports Connecting the Canucks to Pavel Zacha

During a recent iteration of the 32 Thoughts Podcast, Friedman walked back his earlier comments on Zacha and the Canucks.
Instead, he believes it would take a massive overpay for the Bruins to be willing to move on from Zacha.
This likely explains why the Canucks decided to pivot and acquire Lukas Reichel instead as they believed they couldn't land Zacha.
Zacha would be a massive addition for the Canucks and could provide the mix of veteran experience but still untapped potential that Vancouver has been looking for to pair with Elias Pettersson.
Unfortunately, this means that the Canucks are likely done for now and will wait for a full prognosis on Chytil's health and potential return before making a bigger move.
If the Canucks were to land Zacha it seems like a move that would wait until the trade deadline and as the situation continues to play out we will bring all of the latest news and updates.
