The last game that Elias Pettersson played in
Pettersson, 27, had eight goals and 22 points in 28 games this year. He played the entire game in their 4-1 loss to the Utah Mammoth on Dec. 5 but hasn't played since. An MRI revealed no significant damage on Tuesday, according to TSN's Farhan Lalji.
Rossi, 24, is now active with Vancouver after missing games with a lower-body injury since November 11th.
He was involved in the blockbuster trade on Friday that involved Vancouver's captain and defenseman Quinn Hughes to Minnesota. Rossi has scored four goals in 17 games played this year.
Why it may be difficult for the Vancouver Canucks moving forward
Head coach Adam Foote is going to reintegrate Rossi into the lineup while also managing Pettersson's recovery. It is a difficult schedule for Vancouver, which may struggle even further this season without Hughes.
However, the boost Vancouver needs at this point could be with the addition of Rossi, as he will be bringing some depth to the team's forward group.
