Canucks GM Patrik Allvin provided an early morning update on the injury status of Filip Chytil and revealed that he is skating again and feeling better. Filip Chytil, who is dealing with an upper-body injury, is back on the ice and feeling better, Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650 reports Sunday, as per the latest words coming directly from GM Patrik Allvin.

Loading from Twitter ...

The number of games that Filip Chytil has missed so far
Chytil has been on injured reserve since Oct. 20, and he has missed 13 straight games with this injury. The 26-year-old is back skating, though, and seems to be the closest to a potential return among all of the injured Canucks centers. The other centerman dealing with an injury is Teddy Blueger (lower body). Chytil was off to a great goal-scoring start, where he notched three markers in six games to begin the season. However, a massive hit from Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson forced him from the lineup nearly three weeks ago, and he has never touched the ice since, until this latest update.
Why Filip Chytil's injury has really hurt the Canucks
The injury to Chytil has been significant for the Canucks. Newly acquired Lukas Reichel has been filling in at second-line centre since the Canucks traded for him recently, but he hasn't been able to replicate what Chytil was able to do early on. The team has been completely decimated by injuries over the first month of the NHL season. Nils Hoglander, who suffered an ankle injury in the team's second preseason game back in September, was ruled out for 8-10 weeks. Vancouver will be back in action today at 2 PM PT, on the road against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Many will be eagerly watching to see how the Canucks manage against a powerful Florida State team, without so many of their key players.
