The Canucks were looking to fill their 2C hole this off-season, but now, another potential option is off the board after Mason McTavish's new deal in Anaheim. This off-season has been a solid one for the Vancouver Canucks, and while the team haven't made many moves, the one's they have made have been more than solid as they look to return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2025/26. One area they are yet to fill however is the 2C hole that was left by J.T. Miller's departure a year ago, with many options out there this summer for Patrik Allvin and the front office to pursue.
Another 2C option off the board for the Canucks
First it was Marco Rossi, and all off-season long we've heard about their connections to other players, including Mason McTavish, who was just taken off the board officially on Saturday. After a contract negotiation that dragged out months, the Ducks officially revealed they had signed McTavish to a six-year, $7 million AAV deal, one that makes him a key piece of the organization moving forward.

Loading from Twitter ...

It's unclear if the Canucks were genuinely making a push to land McTavish given that he's a division rival, but in terms of the fit, there was no one out there this off-season better for the Canucks than McTavish. Ultimately, the team are likely to roll with Filip Chytil as their No. 2 centreman to start the 2025/26 campaign, and if they start hot, there's a chance they look to make a push to land an upgrade via trade, but with McTavish off the board, it's not likely that Vancouver make another move this off-season.
