Tonight, a new mock trade has been put together by NHL analyst Michael DeRosa that would land Evander Kane in Colorado with the Avalanche.

Over the last couple of weeks, the Vancouver Canucks reportedly gave Evander Kane permission to seek a trade away to a contending team.
Since then, Kane’s agent has been hard at work trying to find his client a new home better suited for the veteran’s needs.
As a result, prospective destinations and trade packages have begun to be put together by analysts across the hockey world.
Tonight, Michael DeRosa of Heavy Sports has suggested that the Canucks trade Kane to the Avalanche for a package of draft picks.

Canucks ship Evander Kane to Colorado in mock trade

In this mock trade, the Canucks continue to load up for the future adding a third and seventh round pick while the Avalanche add much needed depth in Kane.
Avalanche Get: Evander Kane (50% retained)
Canucks Get: 2028 Third-Round Pick
2026 Seventh-Round Pick

While the trade package isn’t all that impressive, with Kane demanding the trade and his advanced age the return will likely be limited from and prospective teams willing to take him on.
Still, if a deal presents itself for the Canucks led by Jim Rutherford and Patrik Allvin then they must take it to try and build for the future in Vancouver.
While Kane is almost certainly going to be moved this offseason, it will be interesting to see if Colorado ends up as one of the finalists or if they strike out completely.
As the trade deadline approaches, all eyes will be on the Canucks to see if they find Kane and other aging veterans new homes before it’s too late.
