NHL analyst Steve Dangle suggests bold mock trade between the Oilers and Maple Leafs

If the Stanley Cup Playoffs were to begin today, the Toronto Maple Leafs would not qualify for the first time since 2016, before they won the NHL Draft Lottery and selected future captain Auston Matthews with the first overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

It won't be long before Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving could be faced with some very tough decisions only months after he traded longtime Maple Leafs forward and Ontario native Mitch Marner to the Vegas Golden Knights.

Outspoken Maple Leafs podcaster Steve Dangle, known for his eccentric reaction video analysis of games, has suggested a deal between the Maple Leafs and Oilers involving pending UFA forward Bobby McMann, and in return, the Leafs would receive Andrew Mangiapane as well as several draft picks.

Mangiapane is in his first year with the Oilers after playing last year with the Washington Capitals, and he began his career with the divisional foe Calgary Flames. He's been heavily involved in trade rumours this year, but as of now, he remains on the team.

McMann was never drafted into the NHL and began his professional career with the American Hockey League affiliate Toronto Marlies in 2020-21.

He'd eventually make his NHL debut with the Maple Leafs in 2022-23. Last year, he played in a career-best 74 games.

So far this year, he has 30 points (17G, 13A) in 54 games.
