Tyler Bertuzzi opts to leave Maple Leafs in free agency
Tyler Bertuzzi will not be a Toronto Maple Leaf next season. It's being reported his next contract is going to be more than Toronto can afford.
The value has simply outpaced what the Leafs can pay, and he's likely to sign a deal somewhere else in the four-year, $5million AAV range on Monday in NHL free agency.

It's possible Brad Treliving's recent signings, like the four-year, $3.75 million AAV deal he gave Max Domi today, played a part in this.
Tyler Bertuzzi won't be returning to the Maple Leafs. His value has out priced Toronto. He will land a deal elsewhere in the 4 year and over $5 mil per territory.
The past season was a roller-coaster for the 29 year-old. He struggled to fit into Sheldon Keefe's system, but finished with 21 goals and 43 points in 80 games, before adding one goal and added four points in seven playoff games.

While the postseason numbers weren't high, Bertuzzi did a great job of keeping Brad Marchand in check both as a pest and on the scoresheet.
It's tough to leave, but Bertuzzi should be excited for what's next.
