Today a new report from NHL insider Darren Dreger has helped to confirm John Tortorella's NHL future with the Philadelphia Flyers. Many reports had hinted at him retiring or moving to the front office. Today the rumors were cleared up.

The Philadelphia Flyers have outperformed the expectations that many fans and media had for them this season. Despite this a stumble at the end of the season has ended their playoff hopes. With the offseason coming speculation has started to build around the future of John Tortorella.

John Tortorella is currently 65 years old and there has been some speculation he would like to move into a management role or step away from coaching. This would be a big loss for new GM Danny Briere as the two have worked closely to build a good culture.

Today a new report from NHL insider Darren Dreger has confirmed from a Philadelphia Flyers source that they expect John Tortorella to be back. According to the source he still has the fire and passion for the game.

We can all appreciate the speculation. And when it comes to John Tortorella and the stories that follow, there's always speculation. As for his future as head coach a Flyers management source says Torts is not leaving the bench. He still has the fire... no question about that.

With John Tortorella staying behind the bench, this could call into question the future of players like Travis Konecny who has struggled under Torts this season.
