Three rival teams of the New York Rangers have reached out and inquired about trading for forward Kaapo Kakko.

The 2019 second overall pick of the Rangers was just signed to a one-year contract extension, but that didn't stop the team from placing Kakko on the trading block. Now, the three front running teams to acquire him have been revealed. They are the Calgary Flames, Pittsburgh Penguins and San Jose Sharks.
As per Jacob Punturi of Sports Illustrated, the Flames, the Sharks, and the Penguins are interested in trading for Kaapo Kakko. #NYR
The 2022-23 season was Kakko's best, where he put up 40 points, 18 of those goals, in all 82 games he played. He took a massive step back last year, playing in only 61 games, where he collected a slim 19 points. Fans are not impressed with his play and want him gone from the Big Apple.
Find me a more useless hockey player than Kaapo Kakko. You can't. If anyone still defends this guy it's just bc they like his name. I get it, it's a fun name to say. My wife loves it. Walks around the house saying «Kaapo Kakko» I don't have the heart to tell her he's atrocious

Kakko is still very young, and teams are always looking to add youthful players to their roster. Teams like the Flames and Sharks have nothing to lose, as they are not expected to make the playoffs next year, whereas the Penguins are in win now mode due to Crosby's age, and may not have as much time to wait for Kakko to flourish.
