Minnesota Wild defenseman Quinn Hughes has come under fire for allegedly skipping out early on a team charity event, leaving some fans feeling a bit upset.
The Minnesota Wild held an annual charity event called «Whiskey and Wine», and even though it was a good time for the players and fans who attended, there was one noticeable player who left early.
Per multiple reports from fans, defenseman Quinn Hughes left the event early, and they were left feeling a bit upset and jilted over it.
Quinn Hughes is the most selfish guy in the NHL. Leaving charity events early/not showing up in Vancouver AND Minnesota. No significant impact on the community as CAPTAIN. No appearances at BC Children's. And some people want this guys' jersey retired in VAN. FOH. - nucks0
Hughes was acquired by the Wild in December from the Vancouver Canucks in one of the biggest trades of the year.
Quinn Hughes Donated Tickets To Vancouver First Responders While With The Canucks
During his time with the Canucks, which included a Norris Trophy win as the NHL's best defenseman, Hughes donated four tickets to every home game to local first responders in the Vancouver area.
He talked about the sacrifices they make to make the rest of us safe and that it was his way of giving back.
I think it's important to do good in the community and do nice things for people that sacrifice so much. They put themselves in harm's way for the community and the city, so it's just something nice I felt I could do. - Quinn Hughes
Perhaps Hughes will give his side of the story after this controversy in his new home of Minnesota.
