Tristan Jarry leaves game against the Boston Bruins with an apparent injury
The Edmonton Oilers have lost newly-acquired goaltender Tristan Jarry, who was hurt in tonight's game against the Boston Bruins and replaced by Calvin Pickard.
The Edmonton Oilers hope that the newly-acquired Tristan Jarry can help shore up the position they badly needed to upgrade, but it looks like he's already dealing with an injury concern.
Jarry was hurt during the second period of tonight's Oilers game against the Boston Bruins at TD Garden after making 12 saves on 13 shots against, and he has been replaced by backup Calvin Pickard.
Jarry appeared to tweak something while going down to make a save, and he has since gone down the tunnel to the team locker room.
The incident took place with 3:52 left in the second period. Tonight's game against the Bruins is just Jarry's third start since Friday's trade from the Pittsburgh Penguins for fellow goalie Stuart Skinner.
The Oilers broadcast later reported that Jarry sustained a lower-body injury on the sequence. While it initially appeared he may have taken contact to the head, the issue was described as something he "tweaked."
The Oilers had a 2-1 lead at the end of the second period.
The Oilers Traded Stuart Skinner To The Penguins For Tristan Jarry Last Week
The Oilers pulled off a major move last Friday, as they sent Stuart Skinner and Brett Kulak to the Penguins for Tristan Jarry and Sam Poulin.
Jarry then started his first game in an Oilers sweater just over 24 hours later, helping the Oilers beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-3 in Toronto.
Days later, Skinner got his first start in a Penguins sweater, coincidentally against the Oilers. But he allowed five goals as part of a 6-4 loss.
Skinner is a pending UFA at the end of the season, and Jarry is under contract for several more years.
