In a devastating blow to the Oilers, head coach Kris Knoblauch announced that Zach Hyman will be undergoing surgery and is done for the entire playoffs.

According to Daily Faceoff's Jason Gregor earlier today, Zach Hyman was going to miss Game 5, and it was unlikely that he would return for the remainder of the series.

Hyman will have surgery and is out for the rest of the playoffs

Unfortunately for the team and their fans, the worst has now been confirmed. Head coach Kris Knoblauch has revealed that Hyman will have to undergo surgery, effectively ending his postseason campaign, per Elliotte Friedman.
The Oilers could win the next game and put an end to the Western Conference Final, but then Hyman's absence for the Stanley Cup Final will be a very difficult pill to swallow for the team.
Hyman has notched 11 points in 15 playoff games so far, and he leads all players with 111 hits. He's typically been deployed on the first line with Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and has been doing so well as of late, so this is a huge blow.
The Oilers overcame Hyman's mid-game absence and defeated the Stars 4-1 to move within one win of their second consecutive Stanley Cup Final appearance.
Game 5 is scheduled for Thursday night in Dallas, and it will be interesting to see how Knoblauch deploys his lines going forward. The Oilers definitely do not want to extend this series any longer now that their key player is down.
