This evening a new report from NHL analyst and insider John Shannon has indicated that the Vancouver Canucks are expected to make a major trade soon.

The Vancouver Canucks are expected to be one of the busiest teams this offseason rebuilding after a disappointing season.
Many reports have indicated that forward Brock Boeser is expected to leave the team in free agency.
With Boeser leaving and the in season trade sending away J.T. Miller the Vancouver Canucks are in major need of forward reinforcements.
To this point, many had assumed the Canucks would explore the free agent market to bring in forward replacements for Boeser and Miller.
However, a new report from John Shannon, has revealed that the Canucks are more likely to have their needs solved by the time free agency begins.

John Shannon Believes The Vancouver Canucks Will Make A Blockbuster Draft Trade

In a new interview with Sekeres & Price, Shannon was asked about the Vancouver Canucks offseason plans.
According to his sources, Shannon believes that the Canucks will move their 2025 NHL First-Round Draft Pick for immediate help.
The Canucks, I think are at #15. Like, I don't expect the Canucks to draft. My own personal opinion. I do not expect the Canucks to draft.

I think that they're going to trade the pick to get somebody that can help them next year. Because that's what they need and I see that more happening around the draft than I do in free agency.
While this is mostly speculation from Shannon it would make sense for the Canucks to move their draft pick for immediate help if a team is willing to make a deal.
The Vancouver Canucks window to compete is immediate and in a particularly weak draft year picking at 15 will not help them nearly enough.
Instead, acquiring a young player entering their prime at a position of need like a top-six winger is a much more important priority.
With the offseason just a couple of weeks away, it will be interesting to see how the reports surrounding Patrik Allvin and the Canucks plans continue to develop.
