This afternoon, the Edmonton Oilers have announced their roster for training camp which begins tomorrow and one notable name is missing.

Over the last couple of weeks, reports had been connecting the Edmonton Oilers to several free agents as potential training camp invites.
One player heavily linked to Edmonton is former Oiler Klim Kostin who in a recent interview admitted he would love an opportunity to return to Edmonton.
Today, as the Oilers released their roster, it has been confirmed that Kostin will not be joining the Oilers for training camp essentially ending his bid to return to Edmonton completely.

Edmonton Oilers End Conversations of Former Fan Favorite Returning

The Oilers made the surprising move not to invite any free agents on a player tryout to their training camp instead filling the roster with players from AHL Bakersfield instead.
Camp will be led by the veterans like Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl while new faces and top prospects Matt Savoie, David Tomasek, and others look to make an impression and stick on the opening night roster.
With so many new faces in Edmonton, training camp and preseason will be huge for Stan Bowman and Kris Knoblauch to determine which players will get the first opportunity to try and help the Oilers return to a third Stanley Cup Finals in a row.
As for Kostin's future, it will be interesting to see if another team picks him up or if he decides to continue his career in Europe closer to home.
As training camp gets underway, we will bring all of the latest news on standouts and potential roster moves that the Oilers plan to make.
