Former Canuck Dakota Joshua Reveals His Feelings After Being Unexpectedly Traded to the Maple Leafs

This off-season has certainly been a busy one for the Vancouver Canucks, as the team have pushed to reinvent themselves after what a disappointing campaign the 2024/25 season was both on and off the ice.

That meant re-signing two of their biggest names up front and adding Evander Kane, but it wasn't just that, as they also moved out some intriguing pieces like Artus Silovs and Dakota Joshua.

After a solid campaign in Vancouver, the Canucks traded Joshua to the Toronto Maple Leafs, and now, he's publicly addressed the move to another Canadian team in a recent interview.

Joshua goes from a team that struggled to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs with plenty of drama to one that was just one game away from the Eastern Conference Finals, and with spots open in Toronto, he'll have the opportunity to earn a crucial role on this team.

Individually, the 2024/25 season wasn't a great one for Joshua, as he posted 7 goals and 14 points in 57 games played, but given his physicality and previous performances, Toronto will find a big role for Joshua.

Ultimately, this was a smaller trade for these two teams, but it gives the 29-year old to take a major leap in his career, and given the talent that's now around him, it's easy to see why he's excited for the opportunity.
