NHL insider Ryan Rishaug poured cold water on the Oilers goalie trade rumors, saying there is no indication that the team is doing anything at the moment.

The Edmonton Oilers' goaltending situation continues to generate headlines, with the tandem of Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard under heavy scrutiny.
Despite solid performances, both netminders have been blamed for the team's playoff shortcomings, keeping the conversation about upgrading in goal alive.
This offseason, speculation centered on the Oilers acquiring a proven starter, with nearly every NHL goaltender linked to the club at some point.

The goalie that has been recently linked to the Oilers

Nashville Predators starter Juuse Saros has been a frequent topic, especially as the Predators slide toward the bottom of the Central Division this season.
Trade chatter around Saros and other elite goaltenders has intensified, but NHL insider Ryan Rishaug poured cold water on these rumors.
According to Rishaug, no goaltending deals are currently in progress for the Oilers. While circumstances can always change, there is nothing underway at this time.
"No goaltending deals done for the Oilers despite some wild speculation otherwise. Things can always change, but that's the state of it as of Friday night/Saturday morning."

Why it's unlikely the Oilers will acquire a new goalie

Even if Edmonton were motivated to pursue a high-end goalie, the team's assets make it unlikely.
The Oilers lack the high-end prospects and draft capital necessary to entice a rebuilding team like Nashville, meaning that even an all-in approach would be limited.
For now, it appears Edmonton will have to continue rolling with Skinner and Pickard.
The search for a Grade-A goalie may remain a talking point, but practically, the Oilers' current roster and trade assets suggest the status quo will remain in net for the foreseeable future.
