Stuart Skinner's name has been in trade speculation all off-season, and now a top analyst has named three potential landing spots for the Oilers goaltender. The Edmonton Oilers have been on the cusp of a Stanley Cup for several years now, but unfortunately, they just haven't been able to get the right goaltender to propel them to the next level. They've tried the duo of Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard for the last two seasons, but they've fallen at the final hurdle, and this off-season, there's been speculation about Skinner potentially being moved.
Skinner linked to three intriguing teams
It's unclear just how much the Oilers have pushed to move Skinner, but in a recent article, Sara Civian of Bleacher Report has ranked three destinations that the talented goaltender could be traded too. Those teams are the Utah Mammoth, Boston Bruins and Buffalo Sabres, and while a move, if it happens, would likely wait until the trade deadline, all three of those teams could be very intriguing landing spots for the talented goaltender. Skinner can be a starter with a $2.6 million contract next year, which is solid value for any team not contending for a Cup, she wrote. A team with some goalie-depth uncertainty, like the (Utah) Mammoth or (Buffalo) Sabres, could take a harmless flyer with a contract like that as the Oilers free up space for a different direction in net. Over the past three playoff runs, Skinner has posted a save percentage of .901 or worse for the Oilers, with many fans calling on the team to improve in net if they are to take that final step.

Loading from Twitter ...

Unfortunately for Edmonton, there aren't many clear upgrades out there, and if the team are to improve in net, most people will simply hope that comes from within after making changes to the staff this off-season. Ultimately, it's more likely than not that Skinner stays in Edmonton this season, but if the team can manage to find an upgrade they're comfortable making somewhere, keep an eye on these three teams as landing spots for him.
