The Elias Pettersson/J.T. Miller drama dominated the Canucks a year ago, and now Quinn Hughes has revealed how he tried to save it.

On and off the ice, the 2024/25 season for the Vancouver Canucks was a bad one, with the team failing to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs while it was drama that dominated the story around the team.
Unfortunately, things got so bad with Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller, that the team simply traded the latter to New York, and now that the dust is settled, the Canucks are confident moving forward.

Captain Quinn Hughes Addresses the Beef

In a recent interview, Quinn Hughes got in depth about the drama for the first time, revealing that he tried to help both sides, but given how much nonsense there was, he simply tried to keep his game at a high level and let the rest play out as it did.
Yeah, it's tough. I was proud of myself just because I tried to help out those guys, and also, there was a lot of nonsense on the side, but my game never dipped. I always felt like I was there for my team. If anything, my game got better just because I knew we needed wins. That's the main thing I could control is my game. But, obviously, it was a distraction.

He then commended Jim Rutherford and Patrik Allvin for how they handled the situation.
Jim and Patrik did what they had to do - what they thought would help our room - and I commend them for that because no one wants to trade Millsy, who was one of our terrific players in the league for a long time, but they did what they felt they had to do, and I think our team should be in a position now where there's no distractions, we've got a good coaching staff, and hopefully (goalie Thatcher Demko is) healthy and we'll be ready to go.
Unsurprisingly, he also talked about the 2025/26 campaign and how excited the team is about the future, because while the drama that dominated last season hurt them, they're ready to move on from that and bounce back moving forward.
