The Edmonton Oilers have gotten younger this off-season, and now a top analyst has encouraged them to push for Luke Evangelista of the Nashville Predators.

This off-season has been a very busy one for the Edmonton Oilers, and while they have lost plenty of experience, they've added some youth and enthusiasm to what was the NHL's oldest lineup in 2024/25.
That includes the likes of Isaac Howard and Matthew Savoie, but now according to recent developments, this team could start taking a look at adding another young forward.

Luke Evangelista on the Oilers radar?

According to David Pagnotta, there's been a divide between Luke Evangelista and the Nashville Predators, and as a result, the Oilers have been encouraged to target the talented young 23-year old.
If the two sides are unable to come to an agreement, they could be forced to explore the trade market in which case, Oilers general manager Stan Bowman should be all over it.

At only 23 years old, the team could acquire a proven young player who is guaranteed to be under team control for the next four seasons and likely willing to take a cheaper «prove it» deal for the time being. Especially if the latter half of this past season is closer to his true level of production, he could be a 50 point player or better in the Oilers top six.

After being drafted in the second-round in 2020, Evangelista has slowly improved, and in the last two years become a valuable player, combining to score 71 points in 148 games in that time.
However, it appears the Predators aren't ready to commit to him long-term, and with the team potentially rebuilding after spending so much on veterans in recent years, they could be looking to recoup future assets, something the Oilers could give up in a deal to land Evangelista.
It's unclear how much interest the Oilers truly have, but with the team looking for good talent in the middle-six, this is the exact type of player they should be targeting.
