This afternoon, just hours before Game 1 between the Los Angeles Kings and Edmonton Oilers, a Kings forward called out an Oilers star. The Edmonton Oilers are set to face off against the Los Angeles Kings tonight in what is expected to be a heated Stanley Cup Playoff matchup. With just a couple of hours remaining before puck drop on Game 1, the rivalry between the Oilers and Kings has reached an all-time high. The familiar foes meet in the Stanley Cup Playoffs once again after being incredibly familiar with one another in years past, meeting for the fourth season in a row.

Loading from Twitter ...

Today, Los Angeles Kings forward Philip Danault decided to stir the pot and insulted Edmonton Oilers superstar Leon Draisaitl, calling him out for embellishing penalties.
Philip Danault Calls Out Leon Draisaitl For Embellishing Penalties
In a new interview with the media ahead of Game 1, Kings forward Philip Danault was not shy when accusing Leon Draisaitl of using his stardom to draw penalties undeservedly. Danault spoke candidly in a recent interview with The Athletic and revealed Drasaitl has a habit of grabbing opponents' sticks and arms in an attempt to create penalties against the Kings. He holds your stick and your arm a lot, too. He tries to create penalties. That's what he's been doing the last three years, and it works. You have to be careful of that and we know what he's doing. While Danault seems to take exception to Draisaitl's play style and habits, he sang a different tune when speaking about Connor McDavid, whom he was quite complimentary of. I love the challenge. [McDavid's] the best center in the league - or top three for sure. He's very electric. The hardest to play against. Just the way he changes direction is quick. With Game 1 quickly approaching and these two teams so familiar with one another over the last several years of Stanley Cup Playoffs, we could see the most electric opening game of the playoffs so far this season. As the game gets underway it will be interesting to watch how the referees call this game and if the Los Angeles Kings try to draw any embellishment calls on Draisaitl.
