Connor McDavid has recently made shocking comments about his future, and now Leon Draisaitl has addressed the ongoing contract conversations.
The future of Connor McDavid in Edmonton was once assumed, but after recent comments about his ongoing contract negotiations, fans aren't quite as sure that Connor will be extending in Edmonton.
That's left major question marks over this team heading into training camp, and while things are obviously still civil with McDavid having a great relationship in Edmonton, there's a chance that this can become a major distraction.

One player that knows what McDavid is going through is Leon Draisaitl, who signed his contract in early September last year, and now, he's commented on the whole situation with his superstar captain during his latest interview with the 32 Thoughts podcast.

Clearly, Draisaitl isn't too worried about how things are going, but if this goes into the regular season with Connor not having a new deal done, it will be hard for all parties to play this off as not distracting.
Ultimately, there's still three weeks before the 2025/26 campaign begins, and in that time plenty can change, but with McDavid stating he's taking his time, there's no timeline for this to get done.
