Some NHL history was made in last night's Oilers-Flames game, as Leon Draisaitl became the first player ever to score the most overtime goals in a season.

Leon Draisaitl made his return to the Edmonton Oilers' lineup in winning fashion, leading them to a 3-2 overtime win against the Calgary Flames on Saturday.
Tying the game at 2-2 with over three minutes remaining in regulation, Draisaitl finished a pass from Evan Bouchard by beating Flames goalie Dustin Wolf stick-side as the Oilers were trailing.
In overtime, Jeff Skinner allowed the puck to drop back to Draisaitl in the slot, and he fired home his 51st goal of the season just 2:25 into the extra period, setting a new NHL record with his sixth overtime goal this season.
"Tight games are always a little bit more special, a little more fun to be in. I thought we played well for the most part and hung in there and sometimes you have to win those games as well," said Draisaitl, who missed the last four games after suffering a lower-body injury during last week's game against Utah.
The 29-year-old German superstar also had an assist, further establishing his dominance in a game the Flames were battling for playoff points.

This is the fourth season Draisaitl hits 50 goals

It's the fourth 50-goal season of Draisaitl's career, which ties him with Jari Kurri for second-most in Oilers franchise history behind Wayne Gretzky's eight. He is also only the fourth non-North American to achieve four 50-goal seasons.
Just two active NHL players have achieved that four times: Draisaitl and Alexander Ovechkin. Draisaitl's clutch performance was praised by Oilers defenceman Darnell Nurse, and Flames coach Ryan Huska admitted he was tough to shut down.
"He's one of the best, if not the best in the NHL this year," he said. "When you have someone of his calibre and you give him the room on the ice and you allow him to shoot the puck as much as he did tonight, eventually he's going to break through and score. So, I don't think we did a good enough job against him tonight."

Missing stars like Connor McDavid, Mattias Ekholm, and Stuart Skinner, the Oilers (42-26-5) moved into a tie for second in the Pacific Division with the Kings.
Viktor Arvidsson also scored, and goalie Calvin Pickard stopped 26 shots to earn the victory.
