Tonight, Leon Draisaitl will eclipse the impressive milestone of playing 1,000 games in the NHL and ahead of the game he discussed his excitement for the moment.
The Edmonton Oilers have been playing well over their last 10 games and after a rough start to the year are back in a Stanley Cup Playoff spot.
A big factor in their improvement has been the improved play of Leon Draisaitl who over his last 10 games has 14 points and in 44 games total has a fantastic 61 points trailing just Connor McDavid on the Oilers.
Now, against the Los Angeles Kings, Draisaitl will play his 1000th NHL game and ahead of the game he spoke with the media.

Ahead of tonight's game Draisaitl was asked about the celebration that is scheduled to happen to commemorate his 1000th game.
Draisaitl confirmed that several family members including his grandmother affectionately known as Omi will be in the arena tonight.
I got my mom, my dad, my sister, and my omi actually in here she made it all the way here. She's 84 if I'm not mistaken. So it's going to be a great night. A fun little celebration for me and my family.
Draisaitl and his teammates will look to bring home a win and cap off a historic night for Draisaitl in the best and more important way possible.
As the game gets underway, it will be fun to see what activities the Oilers as an organization have in store to celebrate Draisaitl and his contributions to the organization.
